Zimbabwe approves use of India’s indigenous ‘covaxine’, becoming the first country in Africa to do so

New Delhi: The world has shown confidence in the vaccine made in India in the fight against the corona epidemic. A recent example of this has come from Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe has approved the use of India’s indigenous vaccine ‘covaccine’. Zimbabwe is the first country in Africa to approve India’s indigenous vaccine. This information was given by the Indian Embassy in Zimbabwe.

While on one hand other countries are showing confidence in India’s vaccine, on the other hand, India has also come forward and given Corona vaccine as gift to many countries. The countries receiving the vaccine also praised India’s move.

Covaxine 81 percent effective

Bharat Biotech’s indigenous corona vaccine has been found to be 81 percent effective in testing. After this, the possibilities regarding its use have become even better. On Wednesday, the data for the advance clinical trial of the vaccine was revealed.

On Wednesday, Bharat Biotech said in a statement that 25800 people participated in its Phase III trial. This is the largest such test in India till date. It was completed in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Krishna Alla, chairman and managing director of Bharat Biotech, said, “Covaxin has shown high therapeutic effectiveness”, as well as improved immunity against new forms of rapidly emerging corona. In another video address, he said, “Many people criticized us.”

Even before the final results of the company’s vaccine test came, some health workers had also expressed apprehension about its use. However, his vaccine ‘covaxine’ has been successful in performing better than the initial estimate. The company had initially predicted it to be up to 60 percent effective.

Till last week, one crore people have been vaccinated in India, out of which only 11 per cent have been used. But now after the final results are out, the claim of Bharat Biotech has been strengthened. After this, the possibilities of securing this completely indigenous vaccine and increasing its sales abroad have increased. This Hyderabad-based company has said that more than 40 countries have already shown interest in its vaccine.
