‘Will buy fuel for four months with India’s help’, Sri Lankan PM Ranil Wickremesinghe


Sri Lanka Economic Crisis: Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said on Tuesday that the new loan facility provided by the Indian government will help the country buy fuel for four more months from July. At the same time, a consignment of 3,500 tonnes of LPG has also reached Sri Lanka.

The gas received from this consignment will be supplied to hospitals, hotels etc. According to the report of ‘News First’ website, Wickremesinghe said that LPG will be available for four months in the next consignment. It will take 14 days for us to get this consignment. The Prime Minister said that we will ensure that the supply of fuel remains constant. However, it will be able to meet only about 50 percent of our current demand. Wickremesinghe said that priority will be given to power generation, transport and other essential services.

When will the flights between India and Sri Lanka start?
Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Tuesday announced the resumption of flights from Jaffna to India soon. He has asked his tourism department to make a plan to attract more and more Indian tourists.

The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority said it plans to attract 800,000 tourists during the remaining period of 2022. Prime Minister Wickremesinghe has directed the resumption of flights to Indian destinations from Jaffna’s Palali airport to facilitate travel.

Most tourists from India come to Sri Lanka
The Sri Lankan cabinet discussed this during a meeting with the industry. 5,562 tourists came here from India in the month of May and in this respect India remained at the top position. At the same time, more than 3,723 tourists came from Britain. However, the total number of international tourists visiting Sri Lanka in May has decreased by about 52 percent as compared to April and 72 percent in comparison to March.
