The tech giant is said to be working on bringing the macOS experience to iPads in the future.
This source comes from the Patently Apple blog. From the database of the US Patent and Trademark Office, the blog discovered that Apple recently had a computer device running Mac OS that can be disassembled and used as an iPad.
The patented product resembles a tablet and the hinged keyboard attachment allows the device to be seamlessly attached to the keyboard via a dedicated articulating mechanism.
According to the report, this keyboard also acts as a cover to protect the iPad screen from external conditions, similar to a laptop computer.
According to the patent illustrations, the iPad will feature a macOS-like user interface to enhance the user experience with the keyboard. The patent also reveals that the Apple Pencil can now be placed inside a hinge that helps secure the iPad to the keyboard.
Besides, the appearance of a port interface such as USB-C will be installed on the hinge.
For the camera, projector, lighting and microphone systems, the patent shows that Apple is taking an extremely novel approach.
If on the iPad, those are all components that serve the default multimedia needs, for this device, the features are considered additional accessories. Then, it is attached to the hinge if needed and flexibly removed when the user does not need it.
