He was referring to a recent statement of the Prime Minister in which he had said that humans take sides and ‘only animals are neutral.’ Shahbaz said he always had good relations with all the army chiefs of the country as they acted as a bridge between Rawalpindi (army headquarters) and Islamabad (the place of government’s work). Responding to a question about the appointment of the next Army Chief, Shahbaz said, ‘There is time for this and when the time comes, it will be considered in the national interest’. The tenure of current army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa is set to end in November.
