Voting begins on no-confidence motion against British PM Boris Johnson

UK PM Confidence Vote: Voting started on the no-confidence motion against Britain’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson, surrounded by controversies. Counting will be done immediately after the voting on the no-confidence motion and the results will be announced.

Earlier, the chairman of a Conservative Party committee had announced a motion of no confidence against Johnson. Sir Graham Brady, in charge of the no-confidence letters received by the committee, said 54 MPs (15 percent) of the Tory parliamentary party are demanding it and will be placed in the House of Commons on Monday evening. Brady said in a statement, “The required 15 percent of the parliamentary party vote for the no-confidence vote has been achieved….”

Significantly, at a birthday party held in Downing Street (Prime Minister’s residence) in June 2020, more than 40 lawmakers have demanded Johnson’s resignation over allegations of violation of the rules related to the Kovid-19 lockdown.
