Vietnam Stamp Association celebrates its 60th anniversary


The 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Stamp Association (December 30, 1960 – December 30, 2020) has just been held on the afternoon of December 29, 2020 in Hanoi, connecting online with the bridges: Hue, Khanh Hoa, Gia Lai and HCMC.

Upstream of history, Vietnam Stamp Association was established on December 30, 1960, according to Decision No. 401 of the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. At the beginning, the Association gathered more than 50 members who are lovers of stamp collecting in the post, diplomatic, cultural industries … in Hanoi and some surrounding areas. The Association is chaired by Mr. Vu Quoc Uy, Acting Chairman of the Foreign Cultural Liaison Committee; Mr. Le Quang Huy, Deputy Director of the Post and Press Release Department is the Vice President; with 6 members of the Executive Board.

Touchingly recalling the past, Mr. Le Duc Van, one of the founding members of Vietnam Stamp Association, former Chairman of Hanoi Stamp Association said: “After 1954, the country wants to reach out to the world, all branches are contact with the world. Regarding post, because we could not establish relations with the World Postal Union, we chose to contact the World Stamp Association (FIP), and to do this, we must have a stamp association. … Thus, the initial reason to establish the Vietnam Stamp Association stems from political purposes, for Vietnam to have a voice on post to the world ”.

Looking back on the past 60 years, the participants of the Celebration agreed that the Vietnam Stamp Association has gone through many ups and downs, overcoming many difficulties and challenges to step by step develop.

Currently, Vietnam Stamp Association has more than 7,000 members living in more than 200 clubs belonging to 33 member stamp associations. The Association’s activities have closely linked with the propaganda activities of the Party and State, contributing to educating patriotism, promoting socio-cultural activities, promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam, and developing international relations. The association has also become an extended arm of people’s foreign affairs.

In particular, sensitive to the manifestations of violations of the sovereignty over the sea and islands of Vietnam in the stamp issuance activities of some countries, the Vietnam Stamp Association has promptly detected and reported to state management agencies for the award. appropriate measures to fight, manage tightly, prevent the stamp patterns from being distributed, at the same time propagate and encourage members not to participate in buying, selling, exchanging, storing and collecting these stamps.

The Vietnam Stamp Association has also actively coordinated with the Ministry of Information and Communications to implement the project “Propaganda for the protection of sovereignty and sustainable development of Vietnamese seas and islands in the period of 2018 – 2020″ through the display of stamps with the theme ” Hoang Sa, Truong Sa – Historical evidence and legal grounds.
