Viet A’s Covid-19 test kit is invested with a budget of 19 billion dong

The Ministry of Science and Technology (Science and Technology) has just announced detailed information about the research project on the Covid-19 test kit Made in Vietnam, researched and developed by the Military Medical Academy and produced by Viet A Company.

According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, this research work is a national science and technology task with the implementation period starting from February 2020.

The full name of this work is “Research and fabrication of RT-PCR and real-time RT-PCR biological kits to detect new strain of corona virus 2019 (2019-nCoV)”.

This research work was carried out entirely with funding from the state budget. The total cost of implementing the project is 18.98 billion VND.

Made in Vietnam Covid-19 test kit is researched and developed by the Military Medical Academy and produced by Viet A Company.

Information published by the Ministry of Science and Technology shows that this S&T mission is chaired by the Military Medical Academy, with the person in charge of the task being Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Anh Son (Military Medical Academy).

The list of participants in the project includes 17 people, of which 13 are from the Military Medical Academy and 4 members are from Viet A Technology Joint Stock Company.

Notably, in the list of members participating in the task, there is also Mr. Phan Quoc Viet – General Director of Viet A Technology Joint Stock Company. Mr. Viet recently received the decision to prosecute the accused for making illegal profits and spending money outside the contract in the process of doing business and consuming Covid-19 test kits produced by Viet A Company.

According to the self-assessment report of the Military Medical Academy, the work has successfully researched and manufactured two sets of RT-PCR biological products for screening and real-time RT-PCR to detect the 2019-nCoV strain.

The product of the project is a biological kit with optimized components, packaged into a test kit in the form of a “super mix” ready to use, convenient for diagnostic facilities.

The biological kit created has achieved a high level of molecular biology, capable of early detection and quick response in case an epidemic occurs and peaks with a large number of infected people nationwide.

The project’s product has helped detect and accurately identify cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection/suspected infection, in line with WHO’s recommendation that countries should promote self-diagnosis and testing capacity when The disease is spreading and spreading rapidly.

The birth of this biological kit is considered to be of great social significance, helping to strengthen society’s trust and contribute to building Vietnam’s brand on the international science and technology map.

Currently, biological kits and diagnostic procedures based on real-time RT-PCR technology have transferred technology to serve the production of over 3 million tests for SARS-CoV-2 screening tests at 163 centers. , the largest hospital in the country. More than 20 countries have negotiated to buy biological kits and have exported over 500,000 tests.

“This research helps Vietnam not have to buy high-priced foreign diagnostic kits, reduce product costs and proactively supply,” wrote the self-assessment report of the Military Medical Academy.

Previously, answering on VnExpress, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Anh Son, the head of the research project, confirmed that the mistake of Viet A Company was not related to the test kit research. According to Assoc. Son, in the first phase, the scientists are in charge of manufacturing and manufacturing on a laboratory scale, in the second phase, enterprises (ie Viet A Company) are in charge.

The people of Viet A Company joined the research team from the early days of implementing the research mission because of the urgency, the two phases were integrated into one.
