Vanita Gupta created history, became America’s first Indian-origin associate attorney general

Washington: American civil rights lawyer Vanita Gupta has made history by becoming the first Indian-origin associate attorney general. He has been elected to the post of Associate Attorney General by the US Parliament. Vanita has become the first black to hold the third largest post in the Ministry of Justice. In the Senate, 51 votes were cast in favor of Gupta while 49 MPs voted against him. Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski voted in favor of Gupta, disassociating himself from his party’s stance. This brought 51 votes to the Democrats’ court and historically confirmed Gupta’s name.
