US to hold talks with Taliban for first time since withdrawal from Afghanistan


Washington: The United States has now announced talks with the Taliban for the first time since the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan. The State Department said, the US will hold its first personal talks with the Taliban from Saturday. The US delegation will meet senior Taliban representatives in Qatar’s capital Doha on Saturday and Sunday.

US seeks to pressure Taliban to form inclusive government
US State Department spokesman said in a statement, "We will pressure the Taliban to form an inclusive government with broad support and respect for the rights of all Afghans, including women. Because Afghanistan is facing the prospect of a severe economic contraction and a possible humanitarian crisis." However, the US insisted that the United States does not recognize the Taliban regime in Afghanistan.
