“Patient 1536” in Da Nang and “patient 1823” in Hanoi are two cases in very serious condition, requiring ECMO intervention.

“Patient 1536”, 79 years old, returned from the US, getting worse about the past half month. Patients treated at Da Nang Lung Hospital, a history of diabetes, high blood pressure for 10 years, now exhausted, systemic edema, thickened bilateral lungs, high risk of death. The patient received four national consultations, on day 16 active treatment including ECMO, mechanical ventilation.
The second severe case was “patient 1823”, 65 years old, in Chien Thang, Me Linh, Hanoi. The patient entered the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases on 2/2, currently interfered with ECMO on Wednesday, ventilated, heavily edema, muscle tremor, bleeding under the skin, bleeding in the mouth.
9 other patients worsened, of which two cases were young, 29 years old and 38 years old, one was 45 years old, the rest were over 60 years old. The patients were closely monitored.
“Patient 1536” address in District 5, Ho Chi Minh City, from the US on January 13, entry at Da Nang airport, quarantine immediately. On January 14, she tested positive for nCoV and transferred to Da Nang Lung Hospital for treatment the same day.
“Patient 1823”, 65 years old, is the father of “patient 1725” (female, 35 years old), in the chain of infection from the wedding in Hiep An commune, Kinh Mon district, Hai Duong.
Total from January 28 to February 17, the Ministry of Health recorded 737 community infections, in 13 provinces including Hai Duong (557), Quang Ninh (60), Ho Chi Minh City (36), Hanoi (35) , Gia Lai (27), Binh Duong (6), Bac Ninh (5), Dien Bien (3), Hoa Binh, Hung Yen and Bac Giang 2 shifts each, Hai Phong, Ha Giang one shift each.
The total number of people in close contact and entry from the epidemic zone is more than 145,000. In which, the isolation concentrated in the hospital more than 500; more than 15,000 concentrated isolation, remaining at home or accommodation.
