Tra Vinh discovered a suspected case related to the missionary association

A male student staying in Go Vap district, Ho Chi Minh City, returning to Cau Ke district, Tra Vinh province, on May 31 tested positive for nCoV, related to the Renaissance Mission Church.

According to the Steering Committee for Epidemic Prevention and Control of Tra Vinh Province, This is the province’s first community Covid-19 case in this epidemic. Currently, the suspected infected person is isolated and treated at a field hospital in Chau Thanh district, his health is stable.

According to epidemiological investigation, this male student stayed in alley 80/59 Duong Quang Ham Street, Ward 5, Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City. On May 21, this person was taken by a motorbike friend to Mien Tay Bus Station, then took a passenger car home at Hamlet 6, Cau Ke town.

On May 29, this student was tested and isolated. On the evening of May 30, the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City announced a positive test result for nCoV.

This case has not been announced by the Ministry of Health, so it is considered a suspected case.

Tra Vinh province’s health sector identified about 20 local people who were in close contact with suspected cases, took samples for testing and concentrated isolation. The locality continues to trace related cases to take samples for testing and request home isolation. The functional sector has sealed off the house of the suspected case.

Regarding the Renaissance Mission Church, Ho Chi Minh City has recorded nearly 150 cases, spreading to provinces including Long An (4 cases), Dak Lak and Bac Lieu with one case each.

On the afternoon of May 31, the Ministry of Health announced 68 positive cases of nCoV in the country, bringing the total number of community infections from April 27 to now to 4,164, recorded in 34 provinces.
