“In my opinion, it is a common trend for technology channels to slow down and no longer develop. This started in Vietnam 3 years ago, because the Marques Brownlee channel speaks English, the viewership is large, so it is only now that the impact is clearly seen,” Vinh said.

According to the channel owner, the number of YouTube users has been reduced by competition from other platforms, such as TikTok. Currently, many technology YouTubers also switch to the short video platform mentioned above because it is easy to attract viewers.

“YouTube also launched a Short feature, like TikTok, but the effect is still not clear. Hopefully, in the future, technology will have breakthrough products to revive this segment,” added Mr. Vinh.

However, technology videos on TikTok also have many problems. Many clips with false content still receive a large number of views because they are distributed by the platform.

According to Pham Tuan Ngoc, owner of the TikTok Tech channel with more than 2 million followers, because the platform is new, young users do not have filters, so false information is spread more.
