Meanwhile, demonstrations started outside Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s residence demanding resignation.

Following a massive request, the speaker wrote to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to resign. After this news came that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has agreed to resign but Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has refused to step down.

After the announcement of the PM’s resignation, some Sri Lankan MPs said that an all-party interim government would be appointed in the next few days. Meanwhile, the protesters turned furious and set fire to the private residence of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. The situation in Sri Lanka is still out of control.
