There was a meeting between PM Narendra Modi and President Joe Biden yesterday during his visit to America. After this bilateral meeting held at the White House, a joint statement was issued by both the countries. In the statement, both the countries have condemned cross-border terrorism and called for strict action against the culprits of 26/11 Mumbai attacks at the earliest. At the same time, India-US have said that they will take concrete action against all terrorist organizations, including groups banned by the United Nations.
In this joint statement issued after this meeting between PM Modi and US President Joe Biden at the White House, both the countries said, “America and India stand together in the common fight against global terrorism. Both countries are “united”. The National Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1267 will take concrete action against all terrorist groups, including those banned by the Sanctions Committee.
The perpetrators of 26/11 Mumbai attacks will not be spared
Along with this, in this joint statement, India and America also committed to bring the culprits of 26/11 Mumbai attacks to justice. Both the countries said in their statement, “We are on the border in India. Condemn terrorism coming from across. At the same time, we are committed that the perpetrators of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks will not be spared. Soon they will be punished severely by tightening the screws on them.”
At the same time, both countries condemned the proxy use of terrorists in any way and stressed the importance of preventing any kind of military, financial assistance to terrorist groups.
Terrorist Hafiz Saeed living in Pakistan was responsible for Mumbai attack
Pakistan-based radical Maulana Hafiz Saeed’s Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JUD) is the main organization of Lashkar-e-Taiba, which is responsible for carrying out the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Let us inform that 166 people, including six Americans, were killed in this attack. Saeed is a UN-designated terrorist on whom the US has placed a $10 million bounty.
Hafiz Saeed was arrested on July 17 last year for providing financial aid for terrorist activities. Hafiz Saeed is currently lodged in the high-security Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore. India has repeatedly called upon Pakistan to take credible, substantiated and irreversible action against terrorist networks and bring the perpetrators of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks to justice.
