Supreme court rebuked Imran Khan government of Pakistan, said- they are unable to run the country

The Supreme Court of Pakistan expressed its displeasure with the Imran Khan government and said that it is unable to run the country or take decisions. According to the Express Tribune report, hearing the case of local bodies, a two-judge bench headed by Justice Sardar Tariq as well as Justice Qazi Faiz Isa expressed displeasure over the Punjab government issuing an ordinance on delimitation of constituencies The matter was referred to the Chief Justice.

The report said that during the hearing, the apex court was informed that the decision regarding the census was not taken by the Council of Common Interests (CCI). Judge Isa expressed his anger, “Why did the Common Interest Council not meet in two months.” He asked the government the question, “Is it not the government’s priority to release the census results.”

SC said – Imran government unable to take decision

The judge said that the government and its allies ruled in three provinces and so far not a single decision has been taken by the CCI. He said, “The government is unable to run the country or take decisions.” He expressed his displeasure over the postponement of the CCI meeting despite the court’s order and termed it an insult to the constitutional body.

The court said that there was no such war situation, which could prevent CCI from holding its meeting. Justice Isa said that four years have passed since the census was done in 2017. According to the report, Additional Attorney General Aamir Rehman informed the court that the CCI meeting would be held on 24 March. He argued that since it is a sensitive matter, the government wants to take a unanimous decision.

‘People should know what the government is doing’

At this, Justice Isa asked why the CCI report has been kept secret. He said that if good works are kept secret, then it creates doubt in the minds of the people. He further said that people should know what the provinces are doing and what the Center is doing.

The judge expressed displeasure over the announcement of a fresh delimitation ordinance by the Governor of Punjab. According to the Election Commission, the ordinance has caused complications. Apart from this, he said that the Punjab government does not want local elections to be held.
