Star Wars: Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen reunite in Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+

The platform unveiled on Wednesday, Star Wars Day, the first images of the new series centered on the character of Ben Kenobi, the first two episodes of which will be broadcast on May 27.

Canadian Ewan McGregor, who plays Obi-Wan Kenobi in the saga Star Wars finds Hayden Christensen, the interpreter of the famous Darth Vader, in the new Disney + series dedicated to his character. And to mark the occasion, the streaming platform released on Wednesday, Star Wars Day, the trailer for the series, which will be released from May 27 (the first two episodes).

Over almost a minute and forty-five seconds, the trailer shows the return of the Jedi master to the planet Tatooine, again played by Ewan McGregor, then hiding from the Empire which is working to eradicate the last Jedi of the galaxy. When the famous Darth Vader, camped by Hayden Christensen for the first time since Revenge of the Sith (2005), he goes in search of his former master in the hope of killing him. The trailer features other characters from the galaxy, starting with Obi-Wan, who watches over young Luke Skywalker, whom he has entrusted to Owen, a character played by Joel Egerton. Inquisitors, dressed in black and armed with their red sabers, organize the hunt for the Jedi who have survived Order 66.

The announcement was made by Ewan McGregor himself in a short video posted on social media. Directed by Deborah Chow, who directed the first two episodes of the series The Mandalorian it is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, nicknamed “Madame Star Wars”. Music is provided by John Williams.

To the mythical duo is added the actor Kumail Nanjiani, who has already worked in the superhero film The Eternals (2021) and the TV series Silicon Valley (2014). Rupert Friend, who recently appeared in the Netflix series Anatomy of a Scandal (2022), will also be there and will play a Grand Inquisitor. Finally, one of the actresses of the series Game Of Thrones will also be present in the credits ofObi-Wan Kenobi. This is Indira Varma, who embodies the role of Ellaria Sand in the fourth, fifth and sixth seasons.
