When will the interim government be formed?
Opposition parties held talks on Sunday and decided to form an all-party interim government after President Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Wickremesinghe agreed to resign. The Prime Minister’s Office has said that all the members of the cabinet have agreed to hand over their responsibility as soon as the new all-party government is formed.
The Prime Minister’s Office said today that all the ministers participating in the discussion were of the opinion that as soon as there is an agreement to form an all-party government, they are ready to hand over their responsibility to that government. The decision was taken after discussions with cabinet ministers on Monday. Prime Minister Wickremesinghe held discussions with the ministers on Monday morning.

Party sources said that the issue of all-party government will be discussed with the Speaker of Parliament. Five cabinet ministers have already announced their resignations. Rajapaksa agreed to resign after protesters stormed the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday.
