Nelson Mandela’s full name was Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela. He was born on 18 July 1918 in the village of Mwejo, Umtata in the Cape Province of South Africa. Mandela’s father was the tribal chief of the town. However, his father died at the age of 12. After the death of his father, Nelson decided to study law and gave up the post of the chieftain of his caste. Although he had entered politics even before the end of his advocacy.

In fact, Mandela joined the African National Congress in 1944. Nelson, who left his mark among the people, soon founded the African National Congress Youth League and became its secretary three years later. A few years later, Mandela was also elected a member of the Executive Committee of the African National Congress.

Mandela started the movement against apartheid in 1944. At that time Mandela was a member of the African National Congress. In the same year, along with his friends and supporters, he founded the African National Congress Youth League. In 1947, he was also elected the secretary of the league.

Mandela and his friends were also tried for treason in the year 1961, but they were considered innocent in that. After this, he was once again arrested on 5 August 1962. At that time he was arrested for inciting workers to strike and leaving the country without permission. After his arrest, he was tried and sentenced to life imprisonment. At the same time, due to the movement started against apartheid from 1964 to 1990, he had to spend 27 years of his life in jail. During his sentence, he was kept in a prison on Robben Island where he had to work as a coal miner.
