Slalom, the right-of-way schuss version

CRITICAL – A finely successful first film about the ambivalent relationship between a young ski champion and her trainer. When the powder becomes toxic.

“Cinema is an ideal medium for listening, watching, guessing what is never said, revealing the gods and demons who hide deep in our souls. After my chaotic adolescence, it was the cinema that allowed me to dive inside myself to sublimate my traumas ”, explains Charlène Favier, the director of Slalom, promising first feature film. A film which helped the young woman, passed by the scenario workshop of the Fémis, to free herself from some of her demons and acts as catharsis.

However, Slalom remains a fiction that leads the viewer in the wake of Lyz, 15 years old (Noée Abita) forced to “give everything” in the path she has chosen. The heroine has just joined a large school sports-studies section of the high school in Bourg-Saint-Maurice, in Savoie. Objective: the French championships, then the European Cup, before the Olympic Games. Early, Lyz is spotted by Fred, a trainer and former ski champion (Jérémie Renier) who will always ask him for more.
