Russo-Ukraine war: PM Modi’s meeting, phone conversation with the Prime Ministers of Romania and Slovakia

Russia Ukraine War: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held another high-level meeting on Monday evening regarding the Ukraine crisis. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Union Ministers Hardeep Puri, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kiren Rijiju, VK Singh besides many top bureaucrats were present during the meeting.

In the meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the entire government machinery is working round the clock to ensure the safety of all Indians in Ukraine. Along with this, he said that India will also help those from neighboring and developing countries who are trapped in the war-torn country of Eastern Europe.

After the meeting, Prime Minister Modi spoke to the Prime Ministers of Romania and Slovakia over the phone and thanked them for their assistance in the evacuation of Indians from Ukraine. According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), “Prime Minister Modi expressed grief over the violence and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine in talks with the leaders of Romania and Slovakia.”

PM Modi has also spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the phone after the war started.

PM Modi had a meeting during the day as well. In this meeting, it was decided to send four Union Ministers to the neighboring countries of the war-torn country to coordinate the process of evacuation of Indians from Ukraine. Scindia will coordinate with Romania and Moldova for the evacuation operation of Indians from Ukraine, while Rijiju will go to Slovakia. Sources said that Puri would go to Hungary and Singh would go to Poland to make arrangements for the evacuation of the Indians.

So far, about 8,000 Indians have been evacuated from Ukraine. Explain that due to the closure of Ukraine’s airspace, India is evacuating its citizens from there through its (Ukraine’s) border posts with Romania, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia.
