Russia increased the siege of Ukraine’s strongholds in the east, Kyiv told the west – we need weapons

Russia Ukraine Conflict: The Russian Army on Friday opened heavy fire on some of its last strongholds in the separatist-controlled Eastern Province of Ukraine. A city was also covered by the shelling, and officials say 1,500 people have been killed and 60 percent of residential buildings destroyed since the war began. Ukraine’s foreign minister warned that without a new shipment of foreign weapons, the Ukrainian army would not be able to stop Russia from capturing Svyarodonetsk and nearby Lischansk. These areas are crucial to the Russian goal of capturing the Donbass, the entire industrial region of Ukraine.

The city is the last area to come under Ukrainian control in Luhansk, one of the two provinces that make up the region. Russian forces made slow but steady progress as they bombed and attempted to encircle both Lischansk and Svyarodonetsk.

,Russians are constantly attacking,
Regional governor Serhi Haidai wrote in a Telegram post on Friday: “The Russians continue to attack residential areas. The residents of Svyarodonetsk have forgotten when was the last time the city was silent for at least half an hour. Four people have died in the last 24 hours in Russian shelling.

Mayor Oleksandr Struk said late Thursday that at least 1,500 people have been killed in Svyarodonetsk since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24. He said that about 12,000 to 13,000 people are still in the city, whereas before the war the population was close to one lakh. He said that 60 percent of the residential buildings in the city were destroyed in the attacks. In the Donbass region’s second province of Donetsk, the Russian-backed separatists claimed control of the main railway station, Lyman. It is north of two major cities controlled by Ukraine. However, no confirmation has come from the Ukrainian authorities about this yet.

,we need heavy weapons,
Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister of Ukraine has urged Western countries to provide heavy weapons to repel Russian forces. Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba tweeted a video on Thursday night, in which he said, “We need heavy weapons. Russia is better than us only in terms of heavy weapons. Without artillery and rocket launcher systems, we will not be able to repel them. He said, “I think the situation is worse than what people are telling. We need weapons. If you really care about Ukraine, give us weapons.
