Rishi Sunak, who is in the race to become Britain’s next prime minister, has talked about taking steps to reduce personal taxes by 20 percent within 7 years, which he describes as the biggest cut in income tax in three decades. Sunak said he would reduce the base rate in pounds from 20p to 16p. This announcement could prove to be important in the race to replace Boris Johnson. Postal ballots from 175,000 Conservative Party grassroots members were received on Monday to choose Sunak or Liz Truss as the party’s next leader and prime minister.

Secondly, I will never make promises that I cannot pay for and thirdly, I will always be honest about the challenges we are facing. Sunak repeatedly told Liz Truss’s tax reduction plans a fairy tale. Sunak also accused Foreign Secretary Truss of being dishonest with voters. Who will be the PM of Britain, it will be decided on 5 September.
