Putin’s army heavy on Ukraine, Russia’s military spending is about 10 times more than Ukraine


There is an atmosphere of panic around the world amid the fierce war between Russia and Ukraine. The situation in Ukraine is deteriorating a lot due to the continuous attack by Russian soldiers. Many soldiers have lost their lives along with many innocent people. The atmosphere after this incident is very tense. If a decision is taken to intervene in this from any other country, then the situation can get worse. The threat to peace and security at the international level may increase further.

Russian troops are taking a heavy toll on Ukraine because of their strong capability. Russia has many such weapons and missiles that Ukraine does not have. The number of Russian soldiers is only around eight and a half million, while the number of Ukrainian soldiers is around two and a half million.

Russia’s spending on military forces is 10 times more than that of Ukraine

The arms and military forces of the two countries are being compared amidst the bloody war in Russia and Ukraine. Russia’s military expenditure is about 10 times more than that of Ukraine. Data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), an independent resource on global securities, shows that Russia spent about $61.7 billion on military-related spending in 2020. This is almost ten times more than the military spending by Ukraine in 2020. In the last 5 years, Russia has spent more than $60 billion on building its military capability on an annual basis. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s spending has nearly doubled from $2.9 billion in 2016 to $5.9 billion in 2020.
