Proposing to buy 21.9 million doses of Covid vaccine for children 5-11 years old – VnExpress


The Ministry of Health said it proposed the Government buy 21.9 million doses of Pfizer vaccine to inject children 5-11 years old, accepting that there may be an excess of the vaccine.

He also launched a vaccination campaign throughout the Lunar New Year, from February 1 to February 28.

In December 2021, the Prime Minister assigned agencies to research and consult with competent authorities on the plan of vaccination for children aged 5 years and older, in order to soon reopen schools in provinces and cities. On January 11, the Ministry of Health said that it had developed a plan to vaccinate this group of children, and reported it to the Government for approval. Ho Chi Minh City has also proposed to the Ministry of Health to allow vaccination of children 3-12 years old by the end of November 2021.

Domestically, Vietnam is promoting Covid-19 vaccination for children 12-17 years old. As of January 10, about 13.9 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been given to children 12-17 years old nationwide, including 7.9 million first shots and 5.9 million second doses.

As of January 13, the country has injected more than 164.5 million doses, of which the first dose is 78.4 million doses, the second dose is 71.7 million doses and the third dose is 14.5 million doses. 100% of people 18 years of age and older received at least one dose of vaccine, 93.4% received the full basic dose and 13.1% received a booster dose. It is expected that Vietnam will complete the third vaccination by the end of the first quarter of this year.
