Support from Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the director of men and gods did not fail to express his dissatisfaction with the failure of the candidate of La France Insoumise. This caused many outraged reactions on Twitter.
A fiery election night. At 8 p.m. last night, the estimates for the first presidential round fell. For Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the observation is bitter. With nearly 22% of the votes cast, this is not enough for the Insoumis to qualify for the second round. The candidate of France Insoumise finishes behind Marine Le Pen (23.41%) and Emmanuel Macron (27.60%).
The result is just as difficult to digest for Xavier Beauvois. Earlier today, the director of men and gods proudly showed his support for Jean-Luc Mélenchon by sharing a photo of his newsletter. In February, he was already taking a position on Twitter: “If we don’t vote Mélenchon in the first round, we will suffer seriously for five years. It’s going to be a disaster.” At 9:40 p.m., the results definitively burying all hope for the Insoumis, the filmmaker expressed his dismay by burning his electoral card.
Although Xavier Beauvois did not put words on the results of the first round, the images shared did not fail to react. Starting with comedian and columnist Sophia Aram, outraged by this staging. “That moment of indecency when, without ever having lifted a finger, you enjoyed the rule of law, freedom of speech, the right to vote and… you ended up burning your voter and stage your little salon rebellion,” she expressed on Twitter. A position shared by the writer Raphaël Enthoven, who did not mince his words: “Why do people always proudly do something stupid?”
Despite an electoral map reduced to crumbs, it is still possible for Xavier Beauvois to go to the polls for the second round of the presidential elections on April 24, provided he presents an identity card.
