HanoiA 23-year-old woman from Hung Yen, who contracted Covid-19 and was treated at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases, last night gave birth to a baby girl weighing 2.8 kg.
Doctor Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, directly operated, on the morning of May 18, the woman had an upper respiratory tract infection, no lung damage, and was 38 weeks pregnant. Last night she showed signs of labor but the fetal heart rate was slow and irregular. The doctor diagnosed fetal distress, resuscitated the fetus but did not respond. The mother was assigned an emergency cesarean section.
Around 10 pm, the baby girl was born, weighing 2.8 kg. The baby was born with respiratory failure, after being resuscitated the newborn has stabilized.
Currently, the mother is isolated from the baby, continues to be treated at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and monitors the risk of serious changes. The baby girl is closely monitored by the pediatrician.
To date, this is the second woman infected with Covid-19 to give birth successfully at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases. The hospital is treating more than 340 Covid-19 patients, including one who is about 20 weeks pregnant.
