Picture of Sidhu Musewala in election campaign was on the hoardings of Imran Khan’s party

Islamabad: A hoarding being used for election campaign in Pakistan shows pictures of late Indian singer Sidhu Moosewala and his popular song ‘295’. Moosewala’s popularity is being exploited to woo voters in the upcoming by-elections in the Punjab province of the country.

Musewala’s picture with Zain Qureshi was used on the hoardings of Tehreek-e-Insaf, the party of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, during the campaign for the by-election to the PP 217 seat of Multan region of Punjab. This information came out in the news of News International newspaper. Zain Qureshi is the son of former Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

29 Musewala was assassinated on May
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu (28) alias Sidhu Musewala was shot dead on 29 May in Mansa district of Punjab state, India. The posters used in the election campaign depicted the singer’s popular song ‘295’, the news said. This song is a comment on the section of the Indian Penal Code which deals with hurting religious sentiments. The by-elections are due on July 17.

When Zain Qureshi was asked about Musewala’s picture on the election campaign hoarding, he said that he did not know anything. Qureshi told BBC Urdu, “I want to thank all those who have printed the picture of Sidhu Moosewala on the poster. Due to this picture, this poster went viral. Earlier none of our posters had gone viral. “They are trying to find out who printed the picture on the poster and why,” he said. It is worth noting that Musewala has a large number of fans in Pakistan.
