Pakistan: Terrorist attack on workers’ camp in Balochistan, four killed

Three days earlier, armed men kidnapped four employees, including two engineers of a private coal company, in Quetta’s Hanna Urak area. The hijackers took the kidnapped employees to an undisclosed location. The attackers raided the coal mine, where most of the workers were from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Terrorist attack happened late at night
Provincial Disaster Management Authority officials and Sibi Division Commissioner Abdul Aziz confirmed that the terrorist attack happened late in the night and armed men fired indiscriminately at the workers.

The commissioner said, “Three laborers died on the spot, while three others were seriously injured in the attack.” But rescue officials who reached the spot to take the bodies and injured to Quetta said that at least At least four laborers died on the spot and four others were injured.

The attackers also set fire to the camp
Aziz said the attackers also set fire to the camp and torched several vehicles. The laborers were working in a government construction project. So far no separatist or terrorist organization has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Terrorists have targeted laborers in Balochistan before
In the past too, separatist and terrorist organizations in Balochistan have been targeting government workers in the province and workers from other provinces working in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects. In May 2017, armed men on motorcycles opened fire on laborers working on a road in Gwadar, killing 10 of them on the spot.

Similarly, in 2018, six laborers working for a private telecom company were shot dead by unidentified persons in Kharan district.

Subsequently, in early 2021, the Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the killing of 11 coal miners in the Mach area of ​​Balochistan. The terrorists first abducted all the workers of the Shia Hazara community from a coal mine and then killed them in the western Pakistani province of Balochistan.
