Our review of Revenge of the Glitter Shrimp: Enthusiastic

CRITICISM – The second part on this gay water polo team which denounces homophobia in Russia is more serious than the previous one. But don’t lack humor.

In May 2019, Maxime Govare and Cédric Le Gallo created the event with their Spangled Shrimps, a gay water polo team competing for the Gay Games, the most important homosexual sporting event in the world (special prize at the International Festival comedy film in Alpe d’Huez). Mathias, vice-world swimming champion and homophobic, was forced to train this funny band. Led with a bang, their story, which celebrated friendship and advocated tolerance, had attracted nearly 600,000 spectators.

The directors and their co-screenwriter Romain Choay could well repeat the feat with this entertaining second part, but more serious and finer than the previous one. As a nod, Oops!… I Did It Again, the song by Britney Spears, punctuates the new adventures of the Shrimps (sumptuous opening and closing credits).
