Our review of Morbius: The Augmented Vampire Blues

REVIEW – Director Daniel Espinosa takes the Marvel character and gives him the complex aura of a “Dracula 2.0”. With Jared Leto, very convincing.

Has the time of the vampires returned? While Batman, the Batman played by Robert Pattinson in the excellent film by Matt Reeves, prances at the top of the box office, Marvel counter-attacks by launching the film adaptation of Morbius .

Dark and complex antihero, this character created more than half a century ago, in October 1971, by screenwriter Roy Thomas and cartoonist Gil Kane, appeared in issue 101 of the magazine Amazing Spider-Man. He is not exactly a model of joie de vivre, far from the pop and sparkling superheroes as the artists of the “House of Ideas” were able to imagine.

This is also what characterizes the dark adaptation by Daniel Espinosa (Life, with Jake Gyllenhaal) designed under the aegis of Sony and not Disney. The director of the thriller Child 44 was right to entrust Jared Leto with the role of this sick scientist, Nobel Prize in biochemistry, desperately trying to find a cure for a blood disease from which he suffers…
