Our review of Ambulance: Michael Bay’s firefighter style

In his Memoirs, Will Smith recognizes all that he owes to Michael Bay. The American director made the funny man of Bel-Air a star by entrusting him with a role of shock cop in bad boys in 1995. Bay convinced the weakling to run with his shirt open and his abs bare. A brilliant idea that could make Bay look like a nag. Just like his filmography, a litany of action films on land, at sea, in the air or in space. Rock, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor or the franchise transformers made the former publicist the king of entertainment in Hollywood at the turn of the 2000s.

Times change and this change makes Bay nostalgic. “I loved the summer blockbuster era, he confides to the magazine First. The queues, the crowded cinemas, the popcorn, the smiles at the exit…” After a detour via Netflix (Six Underground), Bay returns to the theater with Ambulance.
