This is the first batch of imported vaccines from Ho Chi Minh City, negotiated, negotiated, and imported by Saigon Pharmaceutical Company Limited (Sapharco) under the authorization of the City People’s Committee.
One million doses of Vero Cell vaccine to Ho Chi Minh City this time belong to Sapharco’s contract to order 5 million doses with partner Sinopharm.
As of July 31, the city has been allocated 3 million doses of vaccine, which is estimated at 22.3% of the vaccination demand for people aged 18 years and older, reaching the highest allocation rate in the country so far, according to the Ministry of Health. Medical.
According to the vaccine distribution plan in 2021, Ho Chi Minh City will receive about 13.8 million doses, ensuring a rate of about 99% of people over 18 years old. In August alone, it is expected that Ho Chi Minh City will receive 5 million of these 13.8 million doses.
Up to now, Ho Chi Minh City has injected about 1.5 million doses, of which 1.3 million people have been injected with 1 dose, nearly 75,000 people have been injected with 2 doses.
On July 29, the Ministry of Health sent a special mission to support vaccination work for Ho Chi Minh City to speed up the progress. The Ministry also guides the implementation of vaccination during the implementation of social distancing according to Directive 16.

Sinopharm’s vaccine was urgently licensed by the Ministry of Health on June 4, urgently approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) in May, and licensed by China on December 30 last year.
In a press release issued by Sinopharm’s representative in Vietnam on May 31, the company said that the protective effectiveness of the vaccine reached 79.34%.
Vero Cell vaccine is prepared in the form of an injectable suspension, each dose of 0.5 ml contains 6.5U of inactivated nCoV antigen, produced at the Beijing Institute of Biological Products of Sinopharm Pharmaceutical Corporation, China.
