Number of Covid-19 cases per day in Ho Chi Minh City peaked

Ho Chi Minh City today recorded a total of 166 Covid-19 cases, the highest number of infections per day since the outbreak appeared a year and a half ago.

In the past 5 consecutive days, the number of infections in Ho Chi Minh City exceeded 100, with 137 cases on June 17, 149 in the following days; 135; 137. The number of new cases today brings the total number of community Covid-19 cases in Ho Chi Minh City during this outbreak to 1,784.

Since yesterday, the number of cases in Ho Chi Minh City surpassed Bac Ninh, now only after Bac Giang (5,457 cases).

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (HCDC), 166 new infections today, including 165 cases, are contacts of previously announced patients who have been isolated or located in a blockade area; a resident case in Binh Chanh district detected through screening is under epidemiological investigation.

165 contact cases include chains related to the Phuc Hung mission group (34), Ehome 3 (11), Phu Tho apartment building in district 11 (9), Trung Son company in Binh Tan (15), Minh company Pine in Hoc Mon (21), Tan Thoi 3 hamlet, Hoc Mon (6), Hnam Mobile (12), Kim Minh company in district 5 (4), Quarter 2 market, An Lac Binh Tan (1), hostel on Pham Van Chieu street (3), mechanical workshop in Hoc Mon (1), wholesale market in Hoc Mon (8), alley on Phan Van Tri street (1).

There are also cases involving patients, including cases 10118 (2), 12565 (7), 12934 (3), 12561 (2), 13156 (1), 13164 (1), 9962 (1), 12567 (2), 10525 (1), 9487 (1), 10371 (4), 12337 (3), 12559 (11).

Up to now, Ho Chi Minh City has sampled more than 710,000 people, of which 14,391 are F1, the rest are F2, and expanded surveillance related to community Covid-19 cases.

On June 19, Ho Chi Minh City started implementing a campaign to inject 836,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine within 7 days, which is the part of the city’s vaccine prioritized by the Ministry of Health to be allocated from the Japanese source to support Vietnam. The city is continuing to negotiate with vaccine manufacturers, trying to have enough vaccine for two-thirds of the population this year.

From 0:00 on June 20, the city implements Directive 10 of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. Accordingly, passenger transport activities including taxis, buses and intercity coaches ceased operations; absolutely ban spontaneous markets; do not gather more than 3 people in public places; stop all unnecessary meetings…

HCDC recommends that people strictly follow the regulations under this directive, only leaving the house when absolutely necessary.
