North Korea will not participate in Tokyo Olympics, decision taken due to corona infection

In view of the growing infection of the Corona epidemic, North Korea has decided not to participate in the Tokyo Olympics. The Olympic Games in Tokyo are to be held from July 23 to August 8. Although the Games’ Mahakumbh Olympics were to be held in 2020 only last year, but it was postponed due to Corona infection. This was the first time since the Second World War that an important sporting event like the Olympics was postponed.

North Korea wants to protect its players from corona infection

North Korea has written on the official website of its Ministry of Sports that North Korea will not be a part of the 32nd Olympic Games to be held in Tokyo. North Korea wants to protect its players from this global health crisis arising out of Corona. South Korea’s integration ministry has regretted this decision of North Korea. South Korea has said that they hoped that the Tokyo Olympics would be effective in improving mutual relations between the two Koreas.

North Korea participated in the Winter Olympics last time

Japan says that they are waiting for the official confirmation of North Korea, so they cannot comment immediately on the matter. Japan’s Olympic Minister Tamayo Marukawa told reporters that he had not yet received any official information from North Korea that North Korea would not participate in the Olympics. In 2018, North Korea sent 22 of its players to the Winter Olympics held in South Korea. The North Korean sports team of 230 people included government officials, artists, journalists and cheering groups in addition to the players.
