New The Batman Trailer Unveils A Hero “Facing His Share Of Darkness”

With the franchise’s new installment slated for summer 2021, fans will have to wait until March 4, 2022 to reunite with their favorite batman.

More than a year has passed since the last trailer for The batman , released in August 2020. A new highly anticipated trailer was finally unveiled on Saturday, October 16, during the second edition of the DC FanDome, a 100% online event organized by Warner Bros. and DC Films. We discover a vengeful and tortured – if not enraged – superhero, brought by the British actor Robert Pattinson.

The aesthetics of The batman borrows heavily from the dark universe depicted in Joker , by Todd Phillips, who in 2020 won the Oscar for best actor for the interpreter of the Big Bad Clown, Joaquin Phoenix. New blockbuster filmmaker Matt Reeves, known among others for directing Cloverfield and Planet of the Apes: Supremacy, explains that the episode will focus on the second year of the Dark Knight’s career. As reported The Hollywood Reporter , Reeves argues that his film’s Bruce Wayne will be a “Broken” and fallible of the character, “Faced with its share of darkness”.

In an effort to make fans’ mouths watering, the director posted a screenshot of the trailer on October 14, showing the Batman from behind, towering over Gotham City. “Hello from Gotham City… I can’t wait to show you more at the DC FanDome on Saturday”, he enthused.

A cursed shoot

The new film in the franchise was originally scheduled for summer 2021. That was before the Covid-19 pandemic hit. Filming had started in January 2020, before being interrupted in March, then finally resuming in September. New twist of fate: three days after the return of the members of the teams on the project, Warner issues a press release warning that “a member of the Batman production team has tested positive for Covid-19, and placed in isolation in accordance with the protocols in force ”.

The magazine Vanity Fair suggests that the patient is Robert Pattinson himself. The information is confirmed. The actor confines himself. The filming is again at a standstill. Two weeks later, the vampire of Twilight finds his team and the Reeves plateau. But these multiple delays have forced a review of the post-production schedule. The release is finally set for March 4 in the United States.

In addition to the interpreter of Edward Cullen, the actors Zoë Kravitz (Catwoman), Paul Dano (The Riddler), Colin Farrell (The Penguin) or Andy Serkis (Alfred) will end up ripoling the catalog of actors of the production companies behind The batman. By completely renewing its palette, Warner Bros. and DC Films try to make people forget the failures, both commercial and critical, of most of their films in recent years.
