The interval between booster doses is reduced to 3 months, instead of 6 months after the last dose of the basic dose (second dose) as before.

Deputy Health Minister Nguyen Truong Son said that the interval between the 3rd injection after the second injection was shortened from 6 months to 3 months in order to strengthen antibodies to fight the spread of the Omicron variant.

In addition, some provinces are injecting additional doses for people, but the number is small, as of December 25, the whole country injected about 377,000 additional doses.

Regarding immunization for children 12-17 years old, the provinces and cities have administered 11 million doses, of which 7.3 million first and 3.7 million second doses. Coverage of at least one dose is 80% and coverage of two doses is 41% of the population 12-17 years of age. The provinces and cities that have basically covered two doses of vaccine for this age group are Ha Nam, Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, Tien Giang, Tay Ninh, Tra Vinh, Vinh Long, and Binh Duong. , Bac Lieu, Hau Giang.
