Moderna’s corona virus vaccine was found to be about 95 percent effective – preliminary analysis

Biotechnology firm Moderna announced on Monday that preliminary analysis suggests that the experimental corona virus vaccine is up to 95 percent effective in preventing disease, including serious cases.

This initial preliminary result raises the possibility that the United States may have two corona virus vaccines available on a limited basis by the end of the year.

The news comes a week after pharmaceutical giant Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech announced their coronavirus vaccine to be more than 90 percent effective. This announcement by Pfizer and BioNTech raised the market share and expectations of the people.

Anthony S. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said, “This is great news. If you look at the figures, the numbers speak for themselves. ” Fauci is among three people whom an independent committee briefed on the data on Sunday morning.

Fauci said, “I am an economist but basically I am a cautious optimist. I understand that we will get something less than this. I said that 90 plus effective vaccine is possible but I do not want to count. “

Moderna has developed the vaccine in collaboration with the Fauci Institute. It has been used on 30 thousand people. Of these, half received two doses of weskin while half received placebo.
