Moderna refuses to give direct vaccine to Punjab government, know what is the reason

Companies that manufacture vaccines to supply the Kovid-19 vaccine are preferring to deal directly with the Center rather than engaging with states and private entities. At this time, the expectations of people all over the world rests on the vaccine. Lack of vaccine is also being felt in India. Moderna, a biotechnology company developing a messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine to combat Kovid-19, has rejected the Punjab government’s request for direct supply of the vaccine to the state. The US firm said that according to its policy, the company only works with central governments. The company has said that our deal will be with the central government, so we cannot give you the vaccine.

Earlier, on behalf of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, instructions were given to contact several vaccine making companies including Moderna. The officials had approached these companies but they felt disappointed. Giving information, a senior officer said that the vaccine maker Moderna has refused to send the vaccine to the Punjab government.

Punjab Nodal Officer Vikas Garg said that according to the instructions of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, all the vaccine manufacturers were contacted to buy the vaccine directly. These companies include Sputnik-V, Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson. At the same time, the Punjab government issued a statement saying, “As per the policy of Moderna, she deals with the Government of India and not with the State Government. Let us state that due to lack of vaccine, Punjab has to stop the vaccination campaign in the middle .
