Maldives parliament speaker Mohammad Nasheed injured in blast, government will take help of foreign agencies in investigation

Male: A blast in the Maldives has shaken everyone. The democratically elected first President of Maldives, Mohammed Nasheed, has been injured in the blast. There is an atmosphere of sensation in the area after the blast. In fact, the current Speaker of Parliament, Mohammad Nasheed, was injured in a blast near his house on Thursday and is undergoing treatment in a hospital in the capital.

Nasheed narrowly escapes fatal attack

The media unit of the police did not give more information in a written message but said that it has started investigating the case. He has also requested people to refrain from going to the blast area in the capital city of Male. Maldives Home Minister Imran Abdullah told the local TV channel that Nasheed has not been hurt and the government will seek the help of foreign agencies to investigate the matter.

President who lived in 2008

53-year-old Nasheed was democratically elected president for the first time after thirty years of independent rule. He was the President of Maldives from 2008 to 2012. He was defeated in the subsequent presidential election and was disqualified from contesting elections until 2018 after being sentenced to prison.

After which his party colleague Ibrahim Solih won the 2018 presidential election. Nasheed was elected the Speaker of Parliament in 2019 and continues to be the influential political figure of the country.
