The Executive Commission of the EU has signed agreements with six potential vaccine suppliers and is working for the seventh agreement. These deals allow the union to buy more than 800 million doses which is more than the union’s 460 million population.
Earlier on 25th of November itself, Ursula von der Leyen told EU MPs that the first European citizens could be vaccinated before the end of December. Leyen had said that vaccines are important, but the meaning is vaccination. He warned, “Member states should be ready now. We are talking about millions of syringes, we are talking about cold chain, we are talking about organizing vaccination centers, we are talking about trained personnel. All this has to be prepared. “
