Khajogi’s assassination campaign approved by Prince of Saudi Arabia: US official

Washington: US officials believe that Wali Ahad of Saudi Arabia approved a campaign to capture or assassinate journalist Jamal Khashogi at the Saudi High Commission in Istanbul. This information came out from a US intelligence report made public on Friday.

It is believed that after this report comes out, pressure may be increased on the Biden administration to hold the royal family responsible for the murder. After Khashogi’s death on October 2, 2018, there was anger at the international level along with both political parties in the US.

Tough critic

Khashoggi was considered a staunch critic of Wali Ahad Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia. However, this conclusion has not yet been officially made public. At the same time, this report has come at a time when a day earlier, US President Joe Biden had courtesy talks with King Salman of Saudi.

However, in the statement issued by the White House regarding the talks, during this time there was no mention of the case of the journalist’s murder. It was said that the two discussed a long-term partnership between the two countries.
