Investigation opened for suspicion of doping on the Tour de France

An investigation was opened into suspicions of doping targeting a team of the Tour de France cycling which has just ended, and has led to the discovery of drugs and a “Method which can be qualified as doping”, announced Monday the prosecution.

Shortly afterwards, the prosecution added that two police custody were in progress.

According to details provided by a source close to the case confirming information from the “Sunday Journal” and “the Team”, a search carried out by the Central Office for the Fight against Attacks on the Environment and Public Health aimed at several runners from the Arkéa-Samsic team, including Colombian Dayer Quintana, Nairo’s brother, and members of the medical team, was carried out.

The search, according to the two newspapers, took place on Wednesday near Méribel (Savoie).

Leader of the Arkéa-Samsic team, Nairo Quintana finished the event in the 17the place, more than an hour from the winner, the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar. In the same team, Frenchman Warren Barguil finished in 14e place, 31 minutes from Pogacar.
