India has just announced the implementation of a permanent ban on 59 Chinese apps.

According to Times of India, when it first introduced the ban last June, the Indian government gave 59 apps on the opportunity to explain privacy and security compliance.

Chinese companies were asked to explain their activities in India, including the collection of user information and data; as well as explaining the allegations that Chinese technology products are created with vulnerabilities for easy exploitation and tracking.

“The government is not satisfied with the response and interpretation of these 59 applications. Therefore, the ban is now in effect forever,” the Indian newspaper quoted an internal source. It is known that the companies were notified of the ban a week ago.

As of June of last year, India has sanctioned a total of 267 Chinese apps, claiming that these applications “harm India’s sovereignty and integrity, defense, national security and public order”.

On the other hand, India’s bans on China are often linked to the tensions between the two Himalayan states.
