India Slams China on Terrorist Abdul Rehman Makki: India has lambasted China for its dual approach on the fight against terrorism. After China blocked the designation of terrorist Abdul Rehman Makki as a global terrorist, India has said that China has a double standard against terrorism. China’s claim of combating terrorism is hollow. China has blocked a proposal to list Pakistan-based terrorist Makki as a terrorist in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). After which this is a kind of setback for India.
India and the US have already listed Makki, the deputy chief of the United Nations (UN) banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), as a terrorist under their domestic laws. Official sources said this is not the first time China has used its veto to put a proposed list of a notorious terrorist “on technical hold”.
India lashed out at China on terrorism
China had earlier also blocked proposals to designate global terrorist Maulana Masood Azhar, the Pakistan-based and UN-banned terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). Government sources have termed China’s decision as extremely unfortunate in view of the overwhelming evidence against Makki. India has called it a double standard against terrorism. According to sources, India has said that China should consider its response which indicates double standards on countering terrorism.
China played bets
India and the US had proposed to jointly list Makki on 1 June. According to Indian officials, Makki Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) is the deputy head of political affairs of Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JUD), a terrorist organization banned by the United Nations. Against the joint efforts of India and America, China played a technical hold in the Security Council.
Lashkar’s hand in many terrorist attacks
Terrorist Abdul Rehman Makki is also said to have served as the head of the Foreign Relations Department of Lashkar-e-Taiba and was a member of the Shura (governing body). Simultaneously, he is a member of the Jamaat-ud-Dawa’s central and religious converting teams. Let us inform that Lashkar-e-Taiba also took the responsibility of Mumbai 26/11 terrorist attack, Red Fort attack 2000, Rampur CRPF camp attack 2008.
