India engaged in making drug-diplomacy effective card

new Delhi: India took a unique initiative amidst the eagerly awaited vaccine in the world struggling with the Corona epidemic. India, which is called the world’s drugstore, started its process of manufacturing a vaccine and putting its production capabilities ahead of the world on Wednesday. In the link of drug diplomacy, diplomats from 64 countries of the world were taken to Hyderabad and a sample of Indian capability was shown.

Like this, many countries of the world are busy preparing vaccines against Kovid-19. It also includes maharathis like America, Britain, Russia. But this was a special initiative in itself, as no country has opened the doors of its vaccine hub to foreign diplomats in the past to show their vaccine manufacturing capabilities.

However, this exercise of India is also part of a well-planned diplomatic strategy and efforts to make disaster an opportunity. According to official sources, with the help of such diplomatic visits, India is trying to find new foreign markets for anti-Kovid vaccines prepared in the country. After returning from such visits and visits, the diplomatic missions will send a report to their headquarters, then it will also mention how the system of preparing vaccines against Kovid and its mass production is present in India.

It is known by all that that where there is a need for vaccines against Kovid-19 in the whole world, it is not possible to fulfill it with any one vaccine. In such a situation, not only will many vaccine options be needed but they will be needed on a large scale. This situation is an opportunity for indigenous companies like Bharat-Biotech, which have developed their own anti-covid vaccine called covaxine.

Sources reveal that India is exploring markets for indigenous vaccines in many countries in Africa, Southeast Asia and Central-Asia. In this series, many countries, big and small, were invited from a number of areas including Africa, South-East Asia, Latin America, Central-Asia, in a team of foreign diplomats taken to Hyderabad.

With this visit of foreign diplomats, India is also trying to form partnerships with the countries who are preparing their vaccines. Significantly, companies such as Pune-based Serum Institute have become partners for co-production of the Oxford-Astragenka vaccine. At the same time, Russia has also joined hands with the Reddy’s Lab company for its Sputnik vaccine.

Recently, at the summit of BRICS countries, President Vladimir Putin also said that India and China together can produce vaccines of the entire world. Prime Minister Modi is also continuously emphasizing that India’s vaccine manufacturing capabilities are ready to help the whole humanity.

To understand the trust of the world and the confidence of India about the manufacture of vaccines, it will be necessary to first look at some figures. The 60 percent vaccine produced in the world is produced in India. That is, one of the three vaccines being used against various diseases all over the world has got the seal of Made in India. Obviously this is enough to give Fakhr the honor to any Indian.

Not only this, a global organization like the United Nations buys 60–80 percent of its vaccine from India. The confidence in India’s vaccine manufacturing capabilities can be gauged from the fact that its products have been given a pre-approved status by the World Health Organization.

Hyderabad, which is also known as the vaccine capital of the country, is a major center for India’s vaccine manufacturing capabilities. Hyderabad has a large number of companies including Bharat-Biotech and Biological-E, which already have USFDA approval. Which means that their products can also be used in America. Naturally, any product with USFDA approval is considered a standard of quality and many countries only allow medicines and vaccines at its base.

The team of foreign diplomats who went to Hyderabad saw information and manufacturing capacity on covicin at Bharat Biotech. At the same time, a company like Biological-E made a presentation on its ability to produce vaccines on a large scale. According to a representative of the Biological-E Company, it was told that with the help of a detailed presentation made in front of the visiting diplomats, it is better to use specialist facilities in the production of vaccines. Because it is not possible for many small countries to bear the cost of the cost necessary to produce the necessary capacity for production. Also it is not possible to meet its standards everywhere. In such a situation, most countries sourcing vaccines of their need from places with wide production capacity.

Obviously, the requirements related to specialist production capacity also increase India’s expectations. It should be noted that during the Kovid 19 epidemic, India had supplied medicines like hydroxychloroquine to 150 countries including the US. Apart from this, generic medicines of India are used in many countries of the world.

In such a situation, with the help of drug-diplomacy, the natural hope of India will be to increase the weight of its voice on the international stage. This is also the reason why India is now openly questioning the shortcomings and capabilities of international institutions and is making an explicit demand for their reform. During the last few months, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has raised such reforms in the meetings of G20 to UN and SCO which can show the picture of the present reality of the world.
