India at UNESCO: India was on Thursday elected to the World Heritage Committee of the United Nations Cultural Organization. Its tenure here will be of four years. A week before this, India was re-elected to the Executive Board of UNESCO. ‘India at Unesco’ tweeted that India (2021-25) was elected to the World Heritage Committee with 142 votes for a four-year term. Earlier on November 17, India was re-elected to the Executive Board of UNESCO for the term 2021-25.

This committee of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is responsible for the implementation of the World Heritage Treaty. Simultaneously, the committee defines the use of the World Heritage Fund and allocates financial assistance to the states at their request.
