From May 22 to May 28, the country recorded a total of more than 9,300 new infections, down 24% from a week earlier.
The number of daily infections continued to decrease from the previous week, averaging 1,300 cases a day. No province added new cases this week, the highest day recorded more than 1,700 cases was May 23.
Severe cases remained at the upper or lower threshold of 200. The highest recorded days were May 23 and 24 with 216 cases. Compared to last week, the weight decreased by 20%.
The whole week recorded three deaths, including one case on May 23 and two on May 25. Compared to the previous week, the number of deaths decreased by 70%.
Thus, the domestic Covid-19 continues to be controlled. On May 23, the Drug Administration of Vietnam, the Ministry of Health, issued an emergency license for the drug molnupiravir 200 mg produced by Stellapharm Vietnam Company, the license term is 3 years. Thus, the number of licensed domestic molnupiravir drugs has increased to 4 types, of which 2 are 200 mg and 2 are 400 mg.
The total number of doses of vaccines that have been administered is more than 220.6 million, of which more than 3.8 million are for children 5-11 years old, as of May 28.
In the fourth wave, the number of domestic infections is approximately 10.7 million, of which more than 9.4 million have been declared cured. Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City continue to top the number of cumulative infections in the country.
