ANALYSIS – The 71st Berlinale dedicates the film by the Romanian director, a rather subtle satire against the society of his country. A disappointing first prize like the rest of the list.
It will have missed everything that makes the salt of a great international film festival. Pandemic obliges, the 71e Berlinale had chosen a virtual edition, offering the press and industry to view the works of the 1er to March 5. Instead of the thrill of discovering films in theaters, among critics from all over the world, the festival-goer experienced the gloomy loneliness of viewing on a computer screen.
So it was from Paris that we saw Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn, by Romanian Radu Jude, awarded the Golden Bear. A bazooka charge against Romania from a sextape that accidentally ends up on the web. Emilia, a history teacher, is the heroine with her husband. She will have to explain herself to the parents of the students, a reactionary and zany court which occupies the entire last part. Before that, we follow a haggard Emilia through the streets of the city. This wandering is undoubtedly the most interesting. First film to represent our daily life
