In Autun, the famous lingerie brand Dim is looking for a buyer



A hard blow for Dim employees in Autun, in Saone-et-Loire. The American giant Hanes (Playtex, Wonderbra), current owner of the famous lingerie brand, plans to separate from its European subsidiary. Founded in 1956 under the name “Bas Dimanche”, Dim was originally a small company manufacturing low prices, and claimed to be the leading French underwear brand. In 2014, it was sold to Hanes and at the same time lost 265 jobs.

Today, employees and shop stewards are worried again about the future. In this period of pandemic and unfavorable global context, many questions remain unanswered: who will be the buyer? Under what conditions will the brand be redeemed? Cyril Raguin, thehe technical director of Hanes is reassuring. “We have more confidence than ever in our ability to attract investors. Our brands are leading brands”, he says. For him, neither Dim nor his collaborators are “challenged”. The operation should take between 9 and 18 months. Lhe municipality of Autun assures us that it will carefully follow the file.
