Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandiyal on Thursday said it is clear that the April 3 decision of National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri, which rejected the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan, was wrong. .

During the hearing of the fourth day, Chief Justice Bandiyal pointed out that prima facie the arrangement given by the Deputy Speaker in the House is violative of Article 95 of the Constitution.

“The real question is what happens next,” Bandial said, adding that now PML-N’s lawyer and Pakistan’s Attorney General (AGP) Khalid Javed Khan will guide the court on how to proceed.

‘We have to look after the national interest’
The Chief Justice said, “We have to look at the national interest.” He said the court will deliver the verdict today. He made the remarks as a five-judge bench headed by CJP Bandyal, comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel, Justice Muneeb Akhtar and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, heard the matter today. Earlier on Wednesday, the hearing was adjourned for a day.
